A summer's worth of work, both experimental and masterful- Only $4.50!

Technically unreleased, this EP (or short album) came with the limited-edition version of The Chris Moore Songbook, a volume of the chords and lyrics to all of Chris' hundreds of songs. But, this EP does not follow the pattern of other bands' EPs (I'm not naming names, BNL and Ben Folds) that are either one single and a few outtakes or a haphazardly-produced collection of five songs that sound uninspired.

No, this album is the result of work that spanned a summer vacation. A "quality over quantity" situation. Well, actually, the disc contains other material, "The Best of Chris Moore" and bonus tracks.

The other aspect of this album is the element of experimental avenues. For instance, "That Little Something" actually features some pretty heavy electric guitar. But, we should come to expect this experimentation- it has left it's mark on every Chris Moore album (remember the drum machine on "Shut Up Bob"? Track 2 of the album contains a synth and a crazy effect on the guitar. Definitely remnants of Chris' "new" electric guitar pedal.

Say what one may about the songs themselves, this is not a review but merely pointing out some interesting facts about the album, the mixing and producing that Chris accomplishes here is definitely a step-up from previous efforts and is actually quite impressive.

Last, it feels necessary to point out that these songs are Chris' first true attempts at writing love songs. He's never had the inspiration before, but it's tough to come up with words for those kind of feelings. So, if it sounds a bit cheesy or a bit quirky, well, isn't that how all new love is?
