When Jim Fusco heard rumors of Jeff Copperthite getting back into the recording studio, he conferred with Chris Moore and decided that they should ask Jeff to join the Fusco-Moore Productions team.

It couldn't have come at a better time. Who knew that in just a few short months that Jeff would not only come out with his first album for Fusco-Moore Productions, but it would also be his first EVER solo album?

Thus, the Greenlight project was born. Originally conceived as an EP, Jim and Chris managed to convince Jeff that a 9-song effort clocking in at almost 37 minutes was not an EP, but a full album.

Jeff wrote seven of the songs, rearranged a cover of an instrumental, and participated in a "song swap" with Jim Fusco, as he recorded Jim's "What Not To Do", co-written with Becky Daly. Jim will feature a Jeff Copperthite original on an upcoming release.

We don't usually review our own albums here, but Jeff's effort is really something to be championed. He has honed his vocal skills to great effect here, providing harmonies not normally found in Quilt's prior music. Jeff also shows superb guitar and piano skills, plus has now mastered the art of sound band equalization and mastering.

The result is an album that sounds fresh, clear, and vibrant. But, what about the content?

Jeff's emotions range from love to hate on this album and the tempos of the songs show Jeff's full range of styles. From piano based epic numbers like "Greenlight" to punk-like sounds on "$500", this album shows that Jeff had a lot of music to get out of his system in the five years since "Expressions".

In that time, Jeff got married, bought his first condo, and began teaching full time. Life experiences have made Jeff's material deeper, as he writes with the wisdom a man well within a life on his own terms.

The tunes Jeff uses throughout the album are simply infectious. The harmonies on the bridge of "$500" are well-crafted and the ending tag to "Home" shows that Jeff's working in influences normally found only in Jim Fusco's material.

"Greenlight" is a great effort from a great musician and you can't go wrong by purchasing it. Jeff has delivered big-time with his first solo album, first album in five years, and first release for Fusco-Moore Productions- now that's what I call a comeback!
